Our beloved Mweya Mutsvene High School
Mweya Mutsvene High School helped many people in Marange, as students come from far of distance to attend classes. The school opened its doors in 1986 and has been churning students up to now.
The school is about 70 Kilometres south of the City of Mutare. To reach that place one has to drive along the Mutare Masvingo Highway and takes a right turn at 22 Miles. This is a few kilometres from the Tollgate.
From there one has to drive along the 22 Miles — Marange tarred road. However, the turn of to Mweya Mutsvene High School is a few kilometres from the Odzi Bridge.
From that turn off, one drives along Chiadzwa Road.
Mweya Mutsvene High School is at St Andrews mission, a Catholic run institution, which has a hospital and a primary school.
The school has a boarding facility catering for not so many students. However, most of the students are day scholars. There is electricity, since it is along the main road.
Academic Achievement
Basically, the school has been doing very well since its inception in 1986. Many students coming from the school have gone to universities and colleges. Therefore, there are doctors, lawyers, authors, teachers and nurses, who have passed through this institution.
However, the school has not achieved the status that we all expected it to. One of the reasons for that is lack of resources. This is the reason why the Alumni will help to take the school to a higher level. We have to create a future for our brothers and sisters and all our kinsmen.
Focus of the Alumni
As it stands, the Alumni aims to assist in establishing income generating projects as well as enhancing sporting activities. We will look at the weaker areas of the school and put in resources.
It is also our wish that the Alumni association will help former students to forge closer relations. For example, we will help those without employment to get something to do, if we can. We are a team and a family.
Handicap in our association
The Mweya Mutsvene High School Alumni has not yet achieved much. This is because many of our colleagues have not join us. We, therefore, invite former students to come together and recreate a better future for us all.
